Every spring since 1995, "Singing Together" music festivity brings together a number of local ethnic choirs performing a variety of music traditions from all over the world, celebrating together the richness of our multicultural city and its communities. By singing together we embrace and celebrate diversity in our city, our country and the world. The festival's motto is: "Unity in diversity"!
This year, the festival celebrates its 20th anniversary and it will be held over two consecutive Saturdays, April 18 and April 25, starting at 7 pm on both dates, and both performance nights will be held at Toronto Korean Presbyterian Church, located at 67 Scarsdale Road in Toronto.
CroArte Chorale will be performing on Saturday, April 25, 2015.
Each participating choir performs a brief 10 - 15 minute-long program featuring a couple of songs from their ethnic tradition. At the end of the concert, they all join together for a mass choir performance finale that typically features one composition by a contemporary Canadian author and one or two pieces of classic composers. This year, we are happy that we will be singing together with Bill Candy performing his timeless composition Common Ground, whose chorus's sending a beautiful message:
"We all stand on common ground
With a voice that’s clear and strong
We can sing 'most anything
And share a common bond."
